about

Confession's second and final record from 1998, The Late Show, is an unknown masterpiece. A wonderful mix of styles - from progressive rock to folk to even a wee bit of country, James Curran's compositions combined with the fiery vocals of Susan Guiles tied it all together and they created an album of enormous presence. The lyrics examine more than a few ideas, from feminist perspectives (Painter's Wife, The Lady of Shalott), to classic songs of separation (Separate Ways), to remediation of classic film (The Late Show), to the experience of being Dead (Ghost).

A brilliant record, very well recorded, expertly crafted, and powerfully sung.

about

Confession Lambertville, New Jersey

Confession was James Curran, his wife, Susan Guiles, and Opey Messinger. They often performed in the West N.J. / Bucks County area and made 2 records - an EP and this album. The compositions were by James with input by Opey. Susan did most of the singing & lyrics. Today, James runs his antique shop in Lambertville NJ, where he and Susan live. Opie died suddenly in 2016. Enjoy this unknown gem. ... more
